'Am I Blue?'
McCain/Palin Send NYers Home
Siena Poll results are in. NYers were wavering for a bit, trying to give everyone a fair shake. Well, things are now shaken (not stirred), and McCain/Palin is getting serious Walk-Outs.0 comments
Folks are finally making up their minds. You can see this in the severe drop in Don't Know (DK) numbers in this poll:
Barack Obama's DK went from 12% to 7%.
Joe Biden's DK went from 28% to 18%.
John McCain's DK went from 13% to 9%.
Sarah Palin's DK went from 24% to 12%.
So, people have been watching. And deciding.
In the last 3 weeks:
Obama went from a 5pt. lead in New York State to a 22pt. lead.
McCain favorability drops from 50% to 43%.
Palin favorability drops from 46% to 36%.
McCain unfavorability rises from 37% to 49%.
Palin unfavorability rises from 30% to 52%.
Meanwhile...
Obama favorability rises from 56% to 64%.
Biden favorability rises from 46% to 54%.
Obama unfavorability drops from 32% to 29%.
Biden unfavorability rises from 26% to 28%.
Now, this has no real bearing on the national race, because NYS was clearly a safe Dem. state. However, this extreme swing does show a couple of things.
One, that people are rightfully outraged over the pandering, incompetent, opportunistic, slimy, simply abysmal campaign run by McCain. They increasingly see how thoroughly problematic it would be to allow an ambitious novice like Palin anywhere near the levers of power.
It also shows that the NY Republican leadership is (or should be) in full flight panic over hanging onto ANY SEAT on ANY LEVEL in New York State this election.
This year, NY looks to be going from Royal Blue to Indigo, with:
No. Republican. Left. Standing.
